Training Down Your TFF

KoC players oftentimes decide to train down their TFF. That is, they decide to decrease their number of soldiers. Training down essentially signifies training your untrained soldiers into spies or sentries, OR retraining your trained attack/defense soldiers into spies and sentries. Spies and sentries do NOT count as part of your TFF.

More often than not, players train down because they are becoming usual targets for gold since accounts with a huge number of soldiers have high TBG. Players also train down because they want to have more spies or sentries AT THE EXPENSE of lowering the amount gold (income) they get every 30 minutes.

One way to effectively maximize your efforts to train down and making the most out of your TBG is to wait for your gold to reach a certain amount BEFORE spending it to train your soldiers into spies/sentries. For example, I may have 175,000 TBG and I need to train 200 spies. The best option that you can take is to wait for your available gold to reach 700,000. Thereafter, you can spend that gold to train spies. The reason behind this method is simple: the moment you train 50 spies with your 175,000 gold from your TBG, your TBG immediately DECREASES. Thus, after training 50 spies out of your target of 400 spies, you'll be having a lower TBG to spend for the next 350 soldiers to be trained.

The more basic reason is that SPIES give you a lower TBG compared to untrained/trained soldiers. Spies only give you 12 gold per 30 minutes whereas untrained/trained soldiers give you 28 gold. That's a huge difference assuming you have a big size of armies.

You can also decide to sell-off some of your weapons or tools so that you can get the gold you need to train spies. However, the drawback is that you lose weapons in the process. But if you are to choose this method, make sure that you sell spy tools if you want to train spies, or sell sentry tools if you want to train sentries. This is in order for you to at least compensate for the corresponding weapons you will lose in the sell-off process.

Kings of Chaos Recruiter

Kings of Chaos players are constantly searching for a recruiter. In the previous ages, players who were skilled in formulating software codes created KoC recruiters, or the so-called clickers for the game. Among the popular Kings of Chaos recruiters back then include Phoenix Rising's Wildfire with the CW tool, Striker Clan's Click Demon and many others. This age (Age X or Age 10), there are NO formal recruiters yet although there is an in-game recruiter available. However, there is one recruiter which is still in the development process.

It's called ClickBackPlease. It's still on the Alpha stage, meaning it's still a TEST release. The creator of the recruiter is a player named NotDeadYet. For more information about the latest Kings of Chaos recruiter, you can visit here.

Banking Tips

Banking is one way for you to buy stronger weapons later in the age, or purchase siege and fortification upgrades that are too costly. It might be that your Turn-Based Gold (TBG) isn't enough to give you the capability to buy weapons or purchase upgrades, so you resort to banking. But what exactly is banking? And how do you "bank"?

First-off, banking is purchasing cheaper weapons (or even stronger ones depending on your gold) with your TBG. The principle is to buy weapons that are intended to be sold-off later. Selling-off these "banked" weapons later gives you gold which you can use in turn to purchase stronger weapons or siege and fortification upgrades. (See list of siege technology and fortification upgrades)

For example, you want to purchase 1 Blackpowder Missile which costs 850,000 gold but you only have 350,000 available gold. You may choose to buy 1,750 sticks instead with the 350,000 gold. Note that all attack and defense weapons are 75% worth of their purchased value when you sell them. A stick which costs 200 gold when bought costs 150 when sold. Since you already have 1,750 sticks in your armory, all the 1,750 sticks would give you 262,500 gold assuming you sell them all (1,750 sticks multiplied by 150 gold per stick sold). And since 1 BPM costs 850,000, then:

850,000 - 262,500 = 587,500 gold. You still need 587,500 gold for you to be able to buy 1 BPM. Bank more sticks until you reach 587,500 gold worth of sticks more. That is:

587,500 gold (needed worth of sticks) divided by 150 gold (sell-off value per stick)
= 3,916.67 sticks (the number of sticks you need to bank in addition to the 1,750 sticks you already have)

In short,

1 BPM (850,000 gold) = 5,666.67 sticks (approx. 850,000 gold)

By the time you already have 5,667 sticks, you can now sell-off those sticks so that you can get 850,000 gold, enough to buy 1 BPM.

Remember, do not bank on covert tools (spy/sentry tools) as these only give you 60% worth of gold from their original purchase price. Attack/defense weapons, on the other hand, give you back 75% worth of gold when these weapons are sold-off.

Perhaps the more important role of banking falls under siege technologies and fortifications upgrade.

One More Way to Increase Your TFF

Because of the low clickback rates in the in-game recruiter, it is important to look for ways to maximize the growth of your TFF. Apparently, it became clear that joining a single, big alliance isn't enough to boost the TFF of players, especially those who want bigger TFF. There's one more way, however, on how you can further boost the size of your army by using the same in-game recruiter.

You can try to join the "I Click You, You Click Me" alliance. It's not really a formal alliance in KoC. Rather, it's a pseudo-alliance that seeks to increase the TFF of players gained through the in-game recruiter by way of mutual clicking. That is, you join the alliance and click on the recruit links of the members by setting up your preferences in the recruit page. The rest of the members are also expected to do the same. It's mutual clicking, basically.

You can even request the members in the "clicking" alliance to add you in their friends list so that you'll have a higher preference in the recruiting/clicking system. The more friends in your list and the more other players include you in their friends list would mean more soldiers for you.

Be warned, however, that not all players may actually register you in their friends list and that not all of the members in the clicking alliance are active clickers. So if you're a click-freak who is always on the clicking frenzy, remember that the number of recruit links you click does not necessarily mean you'll be getting the same number of return clicks from the entire members of the alliance. Unfortunately, some of those in the alliance list may just not click that much at all.

Nevertheless, it's worth a try. It's just one more way for you to maximize your soldier's growth.

Spy and Sentry Ratings Calculation

There are a few factors that you should consider when computing your spy or sentry rating. First, know if your race has a covert (spy/sentry) bonus. For example, Elves have 35% spy bonus, the Undead race has 35% sentry bonus, and Humans have 15% spy bonus. The only variation for the spy/sentry calculations for the races is the spy/sentry "bonus" part. Here's how to calculate.

The spy/sentry formula is:

M x [S + (n1 x N1) + (n2 x N2) + (n3 x N3)...] x R

where:

M = covert level multiplier
S = number of spies/sentries without tools
n1 = total number of 1st type of spy/sentry tools
N1 = strength of 1st type of spy/sentry tool
n2 = total number of 2nd type of spy/sentry tools
N2 = strength of 2nd type of spy/sentry tool
n3 = etc..
N3 = etc..
R = race multiplier for spy/sentry

Race multipliers:

Elves = 1.35 for spy
Undead = 1.35 for sentry
Humans = 1.15 for spy
Orcs = 1 for either spy or sentry
Dwarves = 1 for either spy or sentry

For a list of covert level multipliers, go HERE.

For a list of spy and sentry tools, go HERE.

Examples:

1. My race is Elves. I have 500 spies, 100 of which hold 100 nunchakus, 50 of which hold 50 grappling hooks, and 25 of which hold 25 cloaks. The rest of the 325 spies do not hold any spy tool. I have a level 8 covert level. I want to know my spy rating.

Computation

M x [S + (n1 x N1) + (n2 x N2) + (n3 x N3)] x R
=256 x [325 + (100 x 100) + (50 x 30) + (25 x 15)] x 1.35
=256 x [325 + 10,000 + 1,500 + 375] x 1.35
=256 x [12,200] x 1.35
=3,123,200 x 1.35
=4,216,320

My spy rating is 4,216,320.

2. My race is Humans. I have 630 spies, 90 of which hold 90 nunchakus, 35 of which hold 35 cloaks. The rest of the 505 spies do not hold any spy tool. I have a level 7 covert level. I want to know my spy rating.

Computation

M x [S + (n1 x N1) + (n2 x N2)] x R
=128 x [505 + (90 x 100) + (35 x 15)] x 1.15
=128 x [505 + (9,000) + (525)] x 1.15
=128 x [10,030] x 1.15
=1,476,416

My spy rating is 1,476,416.

3. My race is Undead. I have 628 sentries, 67 of which hold 67 lookout towers, 34 of which hold guard dogs. The rest of the 527 sentries do not hold any sentry tool. I have a level 9 covert level. I want to know my sentry rating.

Computation

M x [S + (n1 x N1) + (n2 x N2)] x R
=512 x [527 + (67 x 60) + (34 x 30)] x 1.35
=512 x [527 + (4,020) + (1,020)] x 1.35
=512 x [5,567] x 1.35
=2,850,304 x 1.35
=3,847,910.4

My sentry rating is 3,847,910.

Low Clickback Rates in In-Game Recruiter

You might have noticed the low clickback rates in KoC's in-game recruiter lately. At the start of the age (Age X or 10), the clickback rates were well and good although the recruiter itself fared slower than the alliance recruiter softwares. Apparently, clicking 1000 recruit ID's today would only yield to about 100 to a little over 200 return clicks a day. The reason?

Well, for one thing, the "buddy list" system has a lot to do with it. All those listed under your "friends" list will get top priority in the recruit page. Meaning, you can click them all up to five times regardless of their morale. Now this is a major advantage for alliance with a big membership since the alliance members can just focus on their "internal growth" without making clicks for the rest of the KoC players outside of their group. Imagine an alliance with 100 members clicking on the links of their allies in their "friends" list five times a day. That gives each of them roughly around 500 soldiers a day.

The seeming "imbalance" in the recruit system as influenced by the buddy list scheme poses significant advantages to big alliances as I've said before. Now the major drawback to this is that players who belong to smaller alliances---meaning, alliances with very small membership---can hardly expect any profit from the status quo. Unless of course you decide to invite other players to include you in their friend's list---and assuming they are active clickers---inasmuch as you do the same thing to them, the current recruiting system won't be giving you a huge TFF in the coming days. Huge as in four to five digits per day, or week.

What to do? Frankly, the only way for now is for you to add as many people as you can in your friends list, sending them messages urging them to do the same thing for you. Or you can try this.

Stacking up on attack turns

Since attack turns now come once every 3 hours (which basically means you get 8 attack turns per day), every attack turn used is crucial. If you want to have a good gold pillage (who doesn't want to?), you can make the most of your attack turns by:

  1. Attacking players with high soldiers but lower defense compared to your strike action immediately after your target player has received his/her gold/income per turn. This is assuming that your target already has a sizeable amount of gold before the next turn/before you attack. Be warned, though, of the consequences of turn farming. Some players might get irritated and sabotage your weapons!
  2. Stack up your turns to around 100 to the max of 250. Once you have done that, you can put on an attack rampage. While stacking up, be sure to guard your TBG (turn-based gold) and spend them to attack weapons next to spy tools. In sum, purchase offensive weapons and tools while saving turns in the process. Remember to train down your untrained soldiers to spies/sentries before attacking so that you have few soldiers, which means you get to attack players with TFF (total fighting force) higher than yours for higher gold pillage.
Or if you're into raising your defense while saving on turns, try to click on the recruit page like mad. Apparently, it will help increase your number of soldiers, which means more income per turn while waiting for those precious attack turns to stack up. As of to date, however, there's this disadvantage for alliances with a small number of members and for "solo" players with the current recruiting/clicking system. As for huge alliances, it's a plus.
