Training Down Your TFF

KoC players oftentimes decide to train down their TFF. That is, they decide to decrease their number of soldiers. Training down essentially signifies training your untrained soldiers into spies or sentries, OR retraining your trained attack/defense soldiers into spies and sentries. Spies and sentries do NOT count as part of your TFF.

More often than not, players train down because they are becoming usual targets for gold since accounts with a huge number of soldiers have high TBG. Players also train down because they want to have more spies or sentries AT THE EXPENSE of lowering the amount gold (income) they get every 30 minutes.

One way to effectively maximize your efforts to train down and making the most out of your TBG is to wait for your gold to reach a certain amount BEFORE spending it to train your soldiers into spies/sentries. For example, I may have 175,000 TBG and I need to train 200 spies. The best option that you can take is to wait for your available gold to reach 700,000. Thereafter, you can spend that gold to train spies. The reason behind this method is simple: the moment you train 50 spies with your 175,000 gold from your TBG, your TBG immediately DECREASES. Thus, after training 50 spies out of your target of 400 spies, you'll be having a lower TBG to spend for the next 350 soldiers to be trained.

The more basic reason is that SPIES give you a lower TBG compared to untrained/trained soldiers. Spies only give you 12 gold per 30 minutes whereas untrained/trained soldiers give you 28 gold. That's a huge difference assuming you have a big size of armies.

You can also decide to sell-off some of your weapons or tools so that you can get the gold you need to train spies. However, the drawback is that you lose weapons in the process. But if you are to choose this method, make sure that you sell spy tools if you want to train spies, or sell sentry tools if you want to train sentries. This is in order for you to at least compensate for the corresponding weapons you will lose in the sell-off process.
